One Gorgeous Smile With LUMINEERS®
In order to whiten teeth, the dentist
evaluates the patient's teeth to see if he or she is a good candidate
for the process. Those who have badly damaged teeth, several crowns,
extensive white fillings, or porcelain veneers, may not be candidates
for the procedure. Ideal candidates for teeth-whitening are those
who are in good dental health and have had their teeth professionally
cleaned in the last year.
In some instances, the dentist places a 15% hydrogen peroxide gel
on the patient's teeth and then uses special U-shaped light (gas Plasma)
to shine on the teeth for three 20 minutes sessions. The patient can
rest or watch TV during the process. Within one hour, the process
can reportedly whiten teeth five shades and initial research has not
shown that it causes any damage.
For many people getting white teeth is truly a high priority. Consumers
spend more than one billion dollars every year for tooth whitening
products and services.
Another system to whiten teeth is to make molds of the teeth and then
make thin comfortable trays. A 15% or 20% carbamine peroxide gel is
given to the patient to be placed in the trays and then to be worn
for two hours a day or while they sleep. Within two weeks, the teeth
usually achieve 12 to 15 shades lighter. Every year or two, if the
teeth need to be re-whitened the patient may do so.
